Last chance to Seal the Merliance

lima-logo

Here’s something constructive to do on this rainy weekend. A COMPETITION to Design the Seal for the Long Island Merlot Alliance (LIMA). The winning design will serve as the official seal, be featured as part of a new label for Merliance, the group’s private label 100% merlot blend, starting with the 2007 vintage, and will be prominently displayed on the Alliance website and other promotional materials to represent the group. The winner will receive $250 and (if over 21), a case (12 bottles) of the just-released 2006 vintage Merliance. The seal will belong to LIMA

Design contest specifications
· What: An official seal (circular emblem) that represents the Long Island Merlot Alliance, such as our mission (to promote merlot as the premier grape of Long Island), who we are (five founding wineries) and location (the East End of Long Island). See the website here  for source material.
· Usage: The winning design will be incorporated as part of a new Merliance label, which will debut on the 2007 vintage. It also will be used on the website of the Long Island Merlot Alliance, on the group’s press releases, and in other promotional materials.
· Physical size: The finished seal will need to be reproducible (while still legible) in a size as small as 1″ in diameter.
· File format: Entries must be made in electronic format only. No hard copies, please. Acceptable formats include: .jpg, .gif and .tif. Resolution must be at least 300 dpi.
· Submission process: Email entries to info@longislandmerlot.com. All entries will be acknowledged by reply email.

But hurry up! Entry deadline is 5 p.m. on Monday, June 15, 2009! No late entries will be considered! They only sent us the press release at 3pm today, just over 48 hours before submission deadline. That’s quite a challenge to produce a QUALITY design in the time! The winner will be announced on July 1, 2009 and the winning design will become the property of the Long Island Merlot Alliance. To learn more about the Long Island Merlot Alliance and their private-label merlot, visit the website here.

We’d love to post your entries here, so AFTER you have submitted to the competition, please send a copy of your image to info@eastendbuzz.com, or add a comment below with a link to the website page where it can be viewed

Good Luck!

farmstand catch

Caught fresh today from a farmstand on Main Road in Southold. For the veggie garden, two “patio” tomato plants ($5 each), and basil (4 for $10). For the table, a quart of Strawberries, $4.95, (with a few missing off the top already, sorry about that), 1lb bunch of asparagus (can almost eat raw), a bag of mixed baby spring lettuce, (romaine, boston and something else), and a dozen extra large farm eggs, $13 in total. All produce picked fresh this morning, washed and ready to eat. Best eaten before refrigeration is needed. Total investment in local economy $33. Farmstand catch
